Zoe Maitland is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans photography, installation, and photobook making. Guided by a playful and spontaneous process, her work explores themes of nostalgia, intimacy, restlessness, and the in-betweens. Moving between editorial and fine art photography, she is interested in how photographs can hold both personal and universal experiences while leaving space for connection, emotion, and the fluidity of time.

She has self-published five photobooks: on my way! (March 2026), Paella and Plaid (January 2026), Kissing, Eating, Talking (March 2025), Scandinavian Swimmers (January 2025), and Bold Below the Belt (March 2024). Her recent and upcoming exhibitions at the University of Oregon include Emotional Taxonomy, a solo exhibition at the Foyer Gallery; Silver Linings at the McMillan Gallery; and Between Faces, her BFA thesis exhibition at the LaVerne Krause Gallery in Eugene, OR.

Zoe is currently an Executive Photo Editor for Align Magazine and lead photographer for the UO School of Art + Design. Alongside her editorial work, she has a strong interest in film photography, publication-based image-making, and photobook production. She hopes to continue working within the magazine and publishing industry after graduation.

Originally from Oakland, California, Zoe is currently based in Eugene, Oregon, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography with a minor in Art History at the University of Oregon. She plans to move to Portland after graduating in Spring 2026 and continue working across editorial, commercial, and fine art photography.
