Almost Whole
Digital Photography, Glass Slide Mounts, Slide Sorter
In this piece, I explore the way a person can be seen in fragments rather than as a whole. By breaking the image into separate pieces and placing them within individual frames, I wanted to create a sense of distance, memory, and partial recognition. I am interested in the tension between intimacy and separation, and how a familiar image can become unfamiliar when it is interrupted. The slides divide the photograph into individual sections, forcing the viewer to reconstruct the image. This work reflects how I think about memory as something built through small details, partial images, and fragments of a larger story.
